 Aloha Stadium is the place for football on Oahu and it's the home field of the University of Hawaii Rainbows. And, it hosts three Bowl Games:

 Aloha Bowl: On Christmas Day, two top-ranked NCAA teams take to the field. For tickets, call 808-947-4141

 Hula Bowl: In January - College Football's All-Stars Game — East vs. West match-up. For tickets, call 808-947-4141

RAINBOW STADIUM

For over 100 years, Hawaiians have enjoyed baseball. It's played today by Hawaii's winter baseball league, as winter sport. Games on Oahu take place at the Rainbow Stadium on the University of Hawaii campus. Teams include the Honolulu Sharks, the Kauai Emeralds, the Maui Stingrays, and the Hilo Stars.

Formely the Honolulu International Center, the Neal S. Blaisdell Center was renamed In the 1970s to honor Honolulu's mayor from 1955-1968. The 8,000-capacity is a popular place for special events and indoor sports. Basketball, boxing, sumo-wrestling, rock concerts, circuses, conventions offer continuous entertainment. An island classic, the Aloha Basketball Classic, is played annually by the country's best collegiate players in mid-April.

 

PERFORMING ARTS

Next to the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena, the concert hall is the site of the Hawaii Opera Theater's yearly festival, held January-March, with internationally acclaimed stars, Hawaii's finest singers, and a locally trained chorus. With a seating capacity of over 2,000 spectators, performances include dance, drama, and musical performances throughout the year. DIAMOND HEAD THEATRE

A local institution for over 40 years, the Diamond Head Theatre presents Broadway shows, revivals, musicals, and classical works.

 

JOHN F. KENNEDY THEATRE

Talented students of the University of Hawaii's Department of Theatre and Dance perform in their own 600-seat theater. Asian theatrical works (in English) as well as traditional Western works, both classical and contemporary are performed by All-student casts. They dance to ethnic dance, ballet, and modern dance, occasionally hosting visiting professional performers.

With a very specific purpose, the Kumu Kahua Theater only shows works that are either by Hawaiian residents or about Hawaii. The setting at the restored Kamehameha V Post Office Building, where the performances are held, really promotes Hawaiian culture.
