| If sand and surf are right for you you can't go wrong on our Island. Oahu has 60 beach parks and enough pure white sands and shimmering aqua marine waters. Oahu's beaches are public property - at least up to the high water mark. And all Oahu's beaches are easy to reach. So take your place in the sun at some of the best beaches under the sun. Here are a few of our favorites. | Waikiki Beach
Streaching form Alawai Canal to Diamond Head, Waikiki
beach may be the most famous two mile streach of white
sand on earth. It's americas single most famous
vacation spot. And no wonder. Ala Moana Beach Try Ala Moana Beach for a beach thats less busy than Waikiki. Its a family favorite. With a protective reef just offshore, the waters are calm and perfect for swimming. Sunset Beach For surfers this is the knarliest of them all. Int the winter minths waves tower to thirty feet and the best surfers come to take them on. The most prestigious surfing championships are held here and on nearby beaches. Wai'alae Beach Park There are two kinds of scenery at Wai'alae Beach. First there's the natural beauty of Koko Head and Maunaloa Bay. Then there's the man-made extravagance of Kahala's million-dollar mansions, which can be enjoyed from Wai'alae Beach. Sandy Beach A visit to Sandy Beach is a stiring experience. The punishing shore break, a powerful backwash, and an intense rip-tide make this the beach for the serious boogie-boarder an body-surfer. Makaha Beach Makaha means ferocious. No wonder Makaha is the top winter surfing spot on Oahu's Leeward coast. In February there is a locally famous competition featuring old fashion wooden surfboards weighing up to 80 pounds. |

Makapuu Beach's powerful surf can offer an eye poping
experience. Makapuu Beach is probably the most
famous beach for body-surfing in all the Hawaiin
Islands. The shore break is so dramatic and so near
to shore that surf boards are not permitted here. Kailua Beach Into windsurfing? Then you need to get wind of Kailua beach Wind surfing conditions are so perfect that the sport could have been invented here. In fact it was by the Naish Family. The gently sloping bottom and calm waters make it a safe beach for children as well. Waimea Bay Hawaiians once considered there waters sacred. Today the surfing faithful pay their respects every winter. Come November, Waimea Beach is lined with spectators watching world class srufers put themselves to the ultimate test. |
